Overview

A powerful central reservation system (CRS) capable of managing hundreds of events and tens of thousands of participants. The platform will eventually expand to include a robust registration and tournament management system. HBC is a travel and housing company that powers events all over the US and abroad. HBC simplifies the process for event organizers, allowing them to focus on delivering a successful event.

Challenge

Housing companies and event organizers have been forced to rely on outdated and cumbersome systems that hindered their productivity and effectiveness. These platforms often utilized daunting spreadsheets that were not only complex but also prone to errors, causing frustration for users trying to manage multiple events simultaneously. Navigating through confusing menu systems made it difficult to locate vital information quickly, leading to delays and miscommunication.

Furthermore, communication was often lost in a sea of emails, resulting in critical details slipping through the cracks and requiring excessive oversight from managers to ensure tasks were completed correctly. The extensive onboarding processes added another layer of complexity, leaving new users overwhelmed before they even began their work.  This cycle of frustration created a significant barrier to delivering successful events, prompting a desperate need for a comprehensive redesign that would streamline operations and empower users to focus on what truly matters: executing remarkable events.

Solution

We disassembled the existing processes through user interviews and identified where users struggled the most. By applying behavioral science principles, we created a simplified workflow that only displays relevant data at each stage, utilizing progressive disclosure to reveal information as needed.
